all of my three siamese are bulimic or something, they throw up their dried cat food constantly, all over the house. have done so most of their lives. anybody else have this? its like they will scoff down food and shortly thereafter barf it up. the only thing that seems to help is if i give them a can of sardines in oil once a week....oh cuz they seem to have hairballs too.

Short of getting your kitties into an eating disorder clinic, which is expensive, I would recommend you change their reading habits. Throw away all magazines, such as Catnipolitan, Kitten, Meow, and even news mags like Cats Weekly that have ads which portray only slim, practically starved cats and treat cats with curves as a second-hand species. It's time that we promote healthy body images for cats.

On a more practical note, I noticed that Brutus is more prone to puke when he has gone without food for awhile and then consumes mass quantities. When I feed him more often with less food so that he can't BINGE, he seems to behave better gastroinstestinally.

uhm, i am not sure....but their pics are in the meezers tribe....Baby, Jasmine and Figaro are their names. Baby is a seal point, Jasmine is a chocolate point mix ie. not pure siamese and Figaro is a chocolate point siamese.

They have thrown up on all dried foods throughout most of their lives as far as i remember and they do get the good, expensive kind...and for the record....i don't believe it can just be hair balls.....can it?

my girl has a vomiting issue too....it hasn't been all her life but just in the last few months she's started vomiting almost daily. I did change her food and it seemed to help her a little but she still vomits often. My vet said that she is a "chronic vomiter" which I guess is a real condition??? They told me to give her hairball medication to calm her stomach but I'm gonna take her to another vet and get another opinion soon because she has lost a lot of weight (which they said she would be dropping because of age too...she's 15yrs old...but she looks waaaaaaay too thin so I'm gonna take her somewhere else)

I am pretty lucky, Lascivious has no real problems besides being annoying at times and scratching the furniture. Although she does vomit if I am gone for more than 2 days I think that has more to do with being upset than anything else.

My nieghbor has a similar problem with one of her cats and feeds him some special food. Ill ask to see what she feeds him.

Tyler's had issues in the past with vomiting, but it was hair ball junk and changing his diet cleared it up. The one thing that I want to caution about is online chat rooms where someone "takes the lead" by dispensing kind, sincere, but often inaccurate information concerning cat health concerns. I'm not intending to point the finger at anyone here (or in any other tribe), and although these dispensers of opinion mean nothing but the best, the only real accurate advice that you can get regarding the health of your pets is to talk to a licensed veterinarian. Often times, you can get free advice from clinics and county shelters. As long as it's from a licensed professional...

Yeah, she's always done the vomiting while I'm away thing...she also likes to use the floor for a litter box when she's left alone for over a day or if I have male company (whoa, that doesn't sound right...I'm meaning like a boyfriend or something not just random male over all the time LOL) At one point my vet had me giving her a sort of "kitty prozac" but I don't like doing that so she's not on that anymore. It would be cool to know what may help though, thanks for checking to see about the food. And of course, as someone just posted, I will be seeing a vet as well but, any kind of similar stories/helpful hints make me feel a bit more comfortable about the whole situation...really worried about her cause she's getting so thin...but maybe it is the age thing like my other vet said?? (they ran blood tests and found nothing..but she's boney and she had always been kinda chubby in her younger years) But yeah, thanks for any info/similar stories and I'll be taking her to someone soon for professional assistance :)
      (wow, sorry for the ramble!)

My vet friend says its because of hairballs, and if the hairballs are dealt with, the food barfing will stop or improve. kitty needs the laxatone stuff. my lilac point brandy does it too - all the time, everywhere. Barfy Brandy is her name. Best way to clean it up? Let it dry and vacuum. dont step it in barefoot, whatever you do.

I find that when I keep the food dishes well filled, it's allright, but when I have been away too long and it's all gone, so i fill up and they all have a go, they tend to throw up, seemingly from eating to quickly. Happens too when I have a yummy brand of food they have not had for a while. I think keeping a constant supply of food ready should help.

    Hi Siam,
I'm new to this tribe and was scrolling through and hit on your email. My flame point siamese does the same thing. I found that if I feed them a bit of canned food every day, he doesn't vomit quite so often. My vet says that sometimes a bit of canned food works, but evrey cat is different and sometimes they vomit just because they can. Good luck, I hope you find something that works to solve your problem.

what about hairballs. It is shedding season and that is one thing that comes to mind with a barfing kitty . There is a hairball food butmore effective is this malt castor oil stuff comes in a tube you put it on their nose to get them to l;ick and then they will usually lap up a good size ribbon of it and viola no more puke .

My Tonk has issues with wolfing food and barfing it right back up... you might want to try feeding them out of a very shallow dish, like a pie dish or something. Just fill it with a thin layer of kibble. A 'mese breeder suggested this to me, since it makes the cat pick out a kibble at a time instead of gulping it down. That and make sure that if you're a free feeder, that the dish doesn't get too empty or they might gobble the kibble next time you fill it. Hope you find a solution... cleaning up cat yak constantly isn't fun.
