Question:
I've got two cats with fleas. This is unusual since the cats don't typically have fleas until June. But with global warming and all, it's hitting us early. Anyway, I don't use flea collars or drops anymore - the meezer got really sick the last time, ended in the ER of a pet emergency care hospital.
My question is this: How often can I bathe a meezer? I don't want to put him or the poor tabby that we also have *acquired* through the potential problems that OTC collars and drops seem to create. What I'm thinking is that I could bathe them once a month and keep the place vacuumed.
Does anyone know if it's a good idea to bathe a meezer monthly? Meezers have fur that is "silkier" than most cat fur. I wonder if I might be hurting the cat by bathing him too much...

Re: Meezer Care
Tue, May 22, 2007 - 12:27 PMMy cat gets a bath in the summer (every month) and in the cooler months (6-8 weeks or so) - haven't noticed any fur issues - I use a cat shampoo every other time as well. He too was allergic to the flea collar (which he ended up not having) -

Re: Meezer Care
Wed, May 23, 2007 - 12:44 AMOne of them, the meezer, I've bathed and it's not easy, but doable. The other, an older tabby, well, it's impossible. But, what I've done recently is put the upholstery attachment on the vacuum cleaner and used that. They both think its a game and paw at it thinking that it's something to be "grabbed." I used this a couple of months ago and will do it again. They both don't seem too distressed about it, it's not hurting them, and they both seem to relish the idea of *getting even* with the vacuum cleaner!
